January Update

Wow the second half of 2010 just flew by!!! Its been a super busy time for Closet staff members over the past 6 months.
Recordings completed include -

- Tracking the The Mighty Atlas album which was mixed and mastered in New York.
- Completing the Oblivion Album
and working on tracks for
- Nicola Milan
- Andre Leong
- Jeanette Gillespie

Doing some song development work with a number of artists and also providing training to a number of people.

So after a great break travelling through Asia and being able to capture some really interesting sounds to mess around with, Closet Audio Productions is back up and running for the year.

The first thing that's happened is that the studio has received an upgrade - new interface, better monitoring system, new plugins and the booth at Closet has also recieved some tlc - all that meaning that when you work with us, you will have improved sound, more choices, smoother workflow and as usual great fun getting what you need done to help you to make music or to help your ideas to come to life.

In 2011
Plans are in the pipeline for expansion overseas....we'll keep you posted on those as things develop

May/June Update

Wow - does time really fly by this fast???!!
Well we've certainly not been sitting idly at Closet Audio Productions with all sorts of exciting things happening.
Currently we're working with a range of clients in a whole variety of different ways song writing, song development, voice reel production, music production, studio setup and consultancy, building acoustic panels and mixing- all with the central goal of helping them to take steps towards achieving their musical and recording goals.


We've also recently set up a page on facebook with the aim of being able to be a resource to those in the electronic music community and to help you to keep abreast of new product releases, great deals, electronic music history and anything crazy and cool that involves electronic music.

We're also going to be doing some work for a project in France over the next month or so featuring a talented singer by the name of Hannah Featherstone which is an exciting development. In addition we'll be heading back to Malaysia later this week to continue networking with musicians and producers there.

April Update

Wow!!
Time flies when you're having fun - so the old adage goes....
Well that's certainly been the case here at Closet Audio Productions where things took somewhat of an international twist!
This month the focus has been on the Milly James live demo and Moula Bux Arab Hiphop or "Rai" track which are now completed These projects were edited in various locations throughout Kuala Lumpur Malaysia!! Also along with this trip came the opportunity to connect with many fine musicians in Malaysia and also to start conversations opening up possibilities for the future there.

Training continues to be a mainstay of what is happening at Closet along with custom installations and optimisations of clients home studio setups and consultations to advise on the best and most cost efficient gear solutions.

Song Development is also another area that has been keeping us busy here with Daine and Colin working on producing and developing songs with a number of artists which is always an exciting process.

Calvin has been busy also working on the sound treatment solutions front and is in the midst of making plans for some installations in a number of venues around Perth. Once these are installed there will be a whole lot more pictures that we'll be putting up online to show you how this products may be able to work for you.

We've also had the opportunity to work with and do some brief reviews of some exciting new control surface products including the AKAI LPK25, the Novation Launchpad and Ableton Live Intro. Be sure to check out our facebook group for meore info about these great new products.

March Update

Welcome to the March update for Closet Audio Productions - its been a super busy month -
Closet's Training and Installation Service has well and truly kicked off with a bang and we're getting busy servicing the needs of Perth's home studio community. We're making sure that you get off to a great start as you either begin their journey into the field of music production or that they can continue to grow in what you are doing creatively with a minimum of fuss even as you change or upgrade the gear or programs that they are using to create and produce music. We offer onsite setup and training for all Pro Tools Le systems and most other interfaces on the market - we also offer training which will help you to get started off on the right foot and get busy with creating music rather than spending hours trying to figure out the program that you've just bought. We also offer training in Pro Tools, Garage Band and Ableton Live from our conveniently located premises right near the city or we can come out to you.


Exciting news is that Closet now has its own recording space specially tailored towards vocal sessions, voiceover work, singer songwriter projects and music production - "the booth" as it has been affectionately named has already in its first few weeks of operations clocked in a lot of hours and we're so excited about the sounds emanating from it. We've also recorded classical guitar in there last week and look forward to testing it out with a whole bunch of instruments to see how it performs.


In the studio, we've just completed Oblivion's debut album, SOMM 10's demo which is heading to Mexico with them, started working with Wakewood developing songs and getting them ready to be recorded for his debut EP due out later this year.
Yesterday we recorded Milly James and the Insubordinates live in the Art gallery at Curtin University which was a great time and we're looking forward to see what comes of that when the record drops in the next month or so.


There have been a lot of enquiries about our acoustic panels and we're actually installing some into practice rooms at Hale School in Perth and home studios in the Perth metro area. We build in a bunch of different sizes so we'll be sure to have a solutions to fit your situation. Our panels are built with quality workmanship and materials right here in Australia and then delivered direct to you without going through a middleman which means that you get them at the factory direct price.

April is going to be an interesting month as Colin is heading to Malaysia for a couple of weeks to network with artists and musicians and businesspeople. There's talk of us working on a project that spans a number of countries and uses talented artists from around the world to raise funds for an Arts Education organisation called IAEDF......more updates on that as time goes by. Back in Perth, there's Wakewood, a new song development project, training and installs, Ross Mc Mahon and plenty to keep us busy till the next update!

News Update

Welcome to the February Update on all that's been happening at Closet Audio Productions over the past 6 weeks or so.
Firstly though, we'd like to wish you all a very Happy and successful 2010 and we sincerely hope that the year has got off to a great start for you!!
Closet Audio Productions has just moved into new premises in Burswood WA, a significant move from a home business to an office which is right near the city and major freeways so that its very easy to get to. We are also lucky enough to have moved into a facility that houses a whole variety of other businesses including life/business coaches and graphic designers, marketing consultants and even a pilates studio so that there may well be some great synergies that can happen for you as a result of that.
We also recently launched our brand new website www.closetaudioproductions.com so if you haven't done so as yet, please take the time to check it out along with links to samples of our work on myspace and itunes and a whole bunch of different ways for you to contact us if you wish to ask us questions or make use of our services.



Our workspace includes a production space, a training area and a small recording area that will be specialised in recording singers and acoustic instrumentalists. For band recordings, we have access to a variety of facilities throughout the city, having networked with some of the top studios in Perth and we are also able to access some great performance spaces in which to record - so that means that we can work with you to find the place most suited to your project and your budget.



We are currently working on a whole variety of projects in a bunch of different locations and working on band recordings both studio and live, producing music, recording backing tracks, recording drum tracks, doing Home Studio Consultations including DAW hardware setup and installs, providing Music Production lessons and Pro Tools and Garage Band training.



We are currently working on a new line of sound treatment products and have just produced our first prototypes which are actually being used in the production space at Closet Audio Productions. We are very excited to be developing this with the aim of making effective sound treatment solutions available to musicians with a home or practice studio at an affordable price.
